About the Book

Predicting the Price aims to look at a range of techniques for price forecasting. Some are very subjective, a few are objective rules-based systems such as point and figure vertical count targets and the Linton Price Targets derived from them. We will look at a marrying a range of technical analysis techniques to increase the accuracy of price projections as well as gaining an understanding of when such predictions are failing.

David Linton MFTA is a leading technical analyst with over forty years’ experience. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, he studied engineering at King’s College, University of London. He started out trading options in the London Traded Options market in the 1980s and founded Updata in 1991, which has become a market leading UK based technical analysis software company. David has passed the Chartered Technical Analyst exam with the International Federation of Technical Analysts (CFTe) and the UK Society of Technical Analysts Diploma (MSTA). In 2009, he was awarded the Masters in Financial Technical Analysis (MFTA) by IFTA for his paper on the optimisation of Stoplosses.
In 2010, David published ‘Cloud Charts – Trading success with the Ichimoku technique’ and he has taught the Ichimoku module for the STA Diploma ever since. He is a regular commentator on financial markets in the press and speaker at conferences globally. He has travelled to over one hundred countries and taught technical analysis to thousands of institutional traders and investors in hundreds of financial firms around the world. David is an Ambassador of the International Federation of Technical Analysts. His interests include yacht racing, gardening and travel writing.
Linton Price Targets were devised in 2023 and are now available on several platforms including Bloomberg, S&P Chart IQ, TradingView and Updata Analytics.
